VET courses are the best choice for those who wish to find a job in Australia in specific industries. VET courses other that practical learning of a trade or “vocation” issue a certificate highly demanded from employers.
Vocational courses are classified as Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma. They are thought in TAFEs (public institutes) and private institutes. Teaching hours are a maximum of 20 hours per week.
- Certificate II, III & IV: Usually last between 3 months to 1 year.
- Diploma: Last from 1 year to 2 years.
- Advanced Diploma: Last from 1 year to 3 years.
Australia’s VET sector is based on a partnership between governments and industry. VET qualifications are provided by government institutions, called Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institutions, as well as private institutions. Australian governments (federal and state) provide funding, develop policies, and contribute to regulation and quality assurance of the sector. Industry and employer groups contribute to training policies and priorities, and in developing qualifications that deliver skills to the workforce.
